About participation forms

See what participation forms collect, when they appear, and how they differ from acquisition forms.

Use a participation form to collect extra answers from people while they take part in a Touchpoint. This page explains what the form collects, when participants see it, and how to choose where it is managed.

What a participation form is

A participation form collects extra information during a Touchpoint, before the participant continues. That moment can come before a game starts, before someone completes a step, or before they submit an action tied to the Touchpoint.

Each participation form uses a reusable form layout. You build the layout once, then choose it in the Campaign or Touchpoint setup.

Participation form or acquisition form

The two forms solve different problems:

FormMain purposeWhen it appearsWhere you set it up
Participation FormCollect extra Touchpoint-specific answersDuring a TouchpointOff, campaign level, or per Touchpoint
Acquisition FormIdentify the participant and capture shared consent detailsDuring sign-up or opt-inCampaign level only

An easy way to remember it: the acquisition form asks whether someone wants to join, while the participation form asks for extra details when they interact with a Touchpoint.

The three ways to set it up

A participation form can be turned off, set once for the whole Campaign, or set separately per Touchpoint.

SetupUse this whenWhat it means
OffThe Campaign needs no extra data during participation. No participation form is shown. In practice, this is campaign level with Enable Form Schema turned off.
Campaign levelEvery Touchpoint should ask the same questions. One shared form is managed centrally and reused across the Campaign.
Per TouchpointTouchpoints need different questions, or only some need a form. Each Touchpoint can turn on its own form and choose its own layout.

If every Touchpoint should ask the same questions, start with campaign level. If Touchpoints serve different purposes or need different data, set it up per Touchpoint.

No fallback per Touchpoint

When you set this up per Touchpoint, OmniLab does not reuse a campaign-level form automatically. Every Touchpoint is set up on its own.

Where answers appear

Participation form answers appear in the Campaign participant views, including the Participation Form Answers area and CSV exports. Use clear field labels so exported columns stay easy to read later.
