Add badges and rewards to an event
See when an event should award a badge, link a reward, or use both.
Events often use a badge to represent attendance or completion, especially across a workshop series, festival trail, or repeated brand activation. In the current Activity flow, badges belong to the Activity's Gamification setup and help participants see their progress over time.
Rewards solve a different problem: they define what attendees actually receive. Use a reward when a checked-in attendee should get something tangible, such as a voucher after a VIP session, a gift after a kids activity, or eligibility for a later reward flow.
Badge for progress, reward for value
If the attendee should earn proof of attendance, start with a badge. If the attendee should receive something redeemable or valuable, add a reward.
Validation
If the Activity is expected to use a badge, validation can surface:
| Validation key | Message | What to do |
|---|---|---|
touchpoints.gamification_badge_required | {{touchpoint_type}} '{{touchpoint_name}}' requires a gamification badge | Open the Activity Gamification setup and attach the badge before publishing. |
