System requirements & supported environment
Check the browsers, devices, upload formats, and internet connection OmniLab needs to run well — for your team and your participants.
Make sure OmniLab runs smoothly for both your team and the people who open your campaigns — this page lists the browsers, devices, file formats, and connection we support.
Where this applies
OmniLab has two surfaces, and each is built for a different kind of device:
- Studio — where your team builds and manages campaigns. It's designed for a desktop or laptop browser.
- The participant experience — the Smart Links, games, and Pages your audience opens, usually by scanning a QR code on a phone. It's designed for mobile browsers and adapts to the screen.
The browsers, operating systems, and connection below apply to both, unless noted.
Supported web browsers
Use the current version, or one of the recent previous versions, of any of these browsers. Keeping the browser updated to its latest release gives the best experience.
| Browser | Supported on |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome | Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android |
| Microsoft Edge | Windows, macOS |
| Mozilla Firefox | Windows, macOS, Linux |
| Apple Safari | macOS, iOS, iPadOS |
A few things to keep in mind:
- Keep JavaScript and cookies turned on. OmniLab needs both to load and to keep you signed in.
- On Android phones, the built-in Chrome browser and Samsung Internet are both supported.
- Internet Explorer is not supported, and neither are very old or unmaintained browsers that can no longer receive updates.
Supported operating systems
OmniLab runs on any operating system that can run one of the supported browsers above and that still receives updates. There's no single required version — but a system too old to update its browser may not work.
| Where you work | Supported systems |
|---|---|
| Desktop and laptop | Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, common Linux distributions |
| Phone and tablet | iOS / iPadOS, Android |
Accepted file formats for uploads
When you add artwork, models, or data in Studio, use one of the formats below. For the exact size and shape of each image per Touchpoint, see Image & asset specs.
| What you upload | Where it's used | Accepted formats |
|---|---|---|
| Images | Banners, backgrounds, icons, and game artwork | JPEG, PNG, WEBP — plus SVG for flat logos and icons |
| 3D models | Treasure-hunt and augmented-reality objects | GLB, USDZ |
| Bulk data | Importing reward codes, coupons, or participant lists | CSV |
Keep image files lightweight. Large files slow down how fast your pages load for participants, especially on mobile data.
Internet connection
OmniLab is a cloud service, so a steady connection matters more than raw speed.
- Use a stable broadband or mobile data connection. A reliable signal matters more than a fast one.
- Plan for at least 5 Mbps. That's comfortable for everyday building and play. Media-rich experiences — 3D games, augmented reality, or video — work best at 10 Mbps or more.
- The participant experience is built for phones on 4G, 5G, or Wi-Fi. It adapts to slower connections, but a steady signal always gives the best results.
- The connection is always secure. OmniLab is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
Keeping this list current
This page is the up-to-date reference for OmniLab's supported environment. We keep it current as browsers and devices change, and we won't materially reduce what we support without reasonable advance notice.
