Set up an Advent Calendar game

Set up each linked touchpoint so its day in the Advent Calendar opens on time.

3 min read

Set up each touchpoint correctly so the right one opens on the right day when your campaign uses the Advent Calendar layout.

Advent Calendar is a landing-page layout

Advent Calendar is not a standalone game type. You build the grid, day images, and shared header in Advent Calendar layout. This page covers only the linked touchpoints.

Assets you'll need

Each day's door has closed, open, and disabled artwork, shown over the calendar background.

How the touchpoint side works

Each day tile in the Advent Calendar layout points to one existing touchpoint in your campaign. That touchpoint's own dates decide when its day opens, so every linked touchpoint needs its own date window set.

Touchpoint checklist

Build each linked touchpoint first

Prepare the touchpoint exactly as you want participants to see it when that day opens.

It can be a game, an offer, or another campaign touchpoint. Validate it before you add it to the calendar.

Turn on the date override

Open the linked touchpoint and turn on Override Campaign Dates, then set a start and end date for that specific day.

Don't rely on campaign dates alone when a touchpoint should open on one precise Advent day.

Keep every date window separate

Give each Advent day its own time range, with no overlap.

When two linked touchpoints overlap, the calendar is harder to validate and harder to explain to participants.

Keep the linked touchpoints active

Disabled touchpoints and disabled calendar items don't create a usable day for participants.

Test the calendar and the direct touchpoint

Before launch, test the day from the landing page and open the linked touchpoint on its own.

That confirms the day opens when expected and that participants land on the right content.

If publishing is blocked

A few common reasons and how to fix them:

  • The Advent Calendar layout isn't set — open Landing Page, select the Page Layout icon button, choose Advent Calendar in the Layout configuration dialog (alongside One column and Two columns), and save. Once it's selected, the Landing Page screen itself becomes the calendar-day editor — there's no separate Advent Calendar sub-page to find.
  • No calendar items are added — open Landing Page, go to Advent Calendar, and add at least one day.
  • All items are disabled — turn on at least one calendar item so the grid shows something to participants.
  • A day image is missing — open the calendar item and upload both the closed-day and open-day images.
  • A day has no touchpoint linked — open the calendar item and select the touchpoint that should appear when that day opens.
  • A linked touchpoint is disabled — turn it on in Build > Touchpoints, or replace it with an active one.
  • A linked touchpoint has no date override — open the touchpoint, turn on Override Campaign Dates, then set the start and end dates for that calendar day.
  • Two touchpoints have overlapping dates — each calendar day needs its own exclusive time window. Adjust the date overrides so no two days overlap.
